Especially with very tall drivers it could be, that even the highest screen does not help to resolve the problem. Turbulence can hit on the helmet and can disturb immensely.
Then often the only option is to switch to short windshields.
We remedy this situation and give your bike a more aggressive appearance.
The selected height of the windshield ensures lower turbulences and a clear air flow. Turbulences do no longer meet on the helmet area. The will now be evenly distributed on the upper body.
Very suitable is the short windscreen also for off-road use. You get an unobstructed view of everything that is in front of your liquid cooled GS.
Another advantage of a short windshield is the increased air cooling at high temperatures.
The short windshield is made from 4 mm thick polymethylmethacrylate (also known as acrylic glass) and easily replaces the original.
You can order the windscreen in clear, dark smoked or matte black.
Characteristics:
dimensions (height x width): 340 mm x 345 mm
available in clear, dark smoked or matte black
sporty appearance
simply replaces the original
made of 4 mm thick, optically clear and scratch resistant PMMA material
So the quality of the shield is good. My experience however was very bad because instead of the chest area the wind is directly blowing at the helmet even at the lowest position (there is no buffeting and helmet shaking though!). The result is a very noisy ride, even with the red Alpine earplugs. The bike is a GS 1250 with standard suspension, standard seat in the high position, and 180 cm tall rider. At 90-100 km/h the noise was like doing 150 on the highway. When stood up the noise disappears and everyting is peaceful and quiet, the exhaust notes are audible, barely any wind noise (with earplugs). So I would recommend it to the really tall riders, like 185-190cm or above. I had to revert to my Z Stream 50cm tall windshield. It was really nice to ride with unobstructed vision though, but the noise is just too much.
